Literature Analysis #1

The book i have read is " I Hunt Killers ". It is about a teenager whose father was a serial murderer who would take him to work a few times. If you know what i mean. Because of his dad he feels like he doesnt belong anywhere. He has one friend. howie. they had been friends for a long time. even before the serial killer stuff. Howie still accepts jazz for who he is though. Him and howie both find out about a murder that had happened in there town. He wants to help because of his exstensive knowledge on serial murderers. That is what this book is mainly about.

The theme of this book would be rather dark. It also talks about life as a teenager. How difficult it is and all that.  It has a pretty realistic feeling to it. It also has some knowledge about the subject of serial killers.

"jazz closed his eyes, trying to chase away his fathers voice, but it was not good." The author brings out his fathers voice quite a bit to bring some detail to the character."You'll be the greatest ever, jasper. they'll never cath you" You'll be the new boogeyman parents use to scare their kids into behaving.

Plot: "by the time Jazz go to the field outside town, yellow police tape was everywhere. strung from stake to stake in a sort of drunken, off-kilter hexagon". PG3
Setting: "the town of lobo's Nod was too small..."PG3
Protagonist" Jasper "jazz" Dent wasnt about to let the cops see him." PG4
Conflict: " by the time jazz go to the field outside town, yellow police tape was everywhere. strung from stake to stake in a sort of drunken, off-kelter hexagon". PG3
Mood:" It," Jazz reminded him again, staring down. He knew he was suppoosed to feel something hiere. PG 32

"Jazz was amused to see a guy with a metal detector just outside the crime-scene." " He hated most things about Dear Old Dad, but what he hated most was that dear old dad was pretty much always right."

A little bit changes. when it talks about his life with his dad. the tone will change and you kind of just feel sympathetic for him. It just kind of happens. Thats what i feel whenever it talks about his father and when he talks about his friends or anything. you kind of get a relating feeling. Kind of like you feel the same.

He is a dynamic character. He changes slowly over time. By the end of the book his personality has changed quite a bit.I dont want to ruin the ending so i dont want to go that much further into this subject.

i feel like i met a person because because he had a lot of emotion in the book because he hated his father and didnt want to turn out like him. " you're just like your daddy. now that hurt more than any beating".

Reflections on 01/28/14

We talked aboutmaking our future plans and how we will finish the year. The easiest part of this assignment would be what i wanted to do as a career. I want to become a veterinarian. And the hardest question was what steps can i take to move beyond 'what if' and bring my idea/s into reality? That one was kind of hard for me because it was kind of hard for me to think of how i would go about doing this. But hopefully when i speak to dr. preston and we start making plans on the subject. it will be clear to me and i can do my best.

Hafta/Wanna

During highschool you kind of have more margin for error where as after high school, not so much. after high school you will hopefully be doing something with your life and when it comes down to something improtant to you, i would hope that you wouldnt mess around. i would hope that you are focussing on doing something good for your future. like going into a career or college so that you can go into a really good career. In highschool you feel like you can slack a bit but that isnt the case for college and all that. They are kind of similar. though. you will be forming friendships and all that. and hopefully carying on your education.

There is quite a bit of difference between the two though. I would say more difference than similarities. A major difference would be change of scenery. depending where you go and where you live. a major similarity would be that friends will still be your friends as long as you keep in touch.

I think depending on the person they will either stay the same as they are during highschool as out of highschool but they can also change but it wouldn't necesarily be a bad thing. Like if they become more responsible when they get out of highschool. Thats a pretty good positive change.

Me personally i would try to change after highschool but for the better. like changing work habits and study habits and hopefully become very hapy in a new and exciting life of college. To me it sounds really great and fun and will be a nice expirence but to others it might not. I want to go out and try lifes challenges by myself for a while and see how it is and if i can make it.

VISUAL STORYTELLING

Some of the techniques that they use in movies to show visual story telling is the music, just showing and not having any dialog, and creating a good mood. For instance the movie that we have been watching in class uses the showing and not telling technique in the first few seconds of the movie. he uses a few accourtments for his wheelchair and as he gets dressed. they use music after the american team loses to show a sense of sadness from the players. The movie creates a good mood by showing all of the players in there homes and how they act. they just live a normal life. living day by day just like everyone else. Most of the players faced contretemps and thats why they were place in the wheelchair. when they were trying out for the team only the best were culled out for the team.

PROFILE IN COURAGE

In the "profile", I saw a lot of courage. The men that had a horrible accident and came back to do stuff on there own. That takes a lot of courage. and they enjoy is the bettter part. I liked that they explained the feelings that you get when you get home. That you just feel horrible about what you used to be able to do. All that photos of you doing activities and all that. must be hard for them. I do like that they are able to do all of the stuff without the use of there legs or even there forarms for the matter. It take a lot of courage to bounce back from some of the stuff that they went through and i admire them for that.

The Choice

A friend of mine told me of a choice that he had to make. He had to make the choice of will he stay where he is at or will he go move with his grandmother.

His grandmother had just left his grandfather and moved out of state to idaho. She was all alone up there. She had asked him to move out there. He said that he was considering it.

He had moved a lot as a child. He had been alone for a long time so he knew how his grandmother felt. So he decided to go move in with her in Idaho. He knew if he moved out there that he would be alone again but he didnt mind too much because he was pretty lonely where he was at the time and he kind of wanted to see snow so it was allright.

When he did move out there he was lonely, Like he had predicted. He usually went home and stayed there for about 6 hours by himself all alone till his grandmother had gotten home. It wasnt so bad he said. He didnt really regret moving out there far a little while.

THE CHOICE (Questions)

The source: The choice

1. The choice that the article i read reffered too was giving their daughter a medicine that can stop cancer cells from progressing but this also may affect healthy cells that help her grow. she is 5 years old so it is a kind of critical time for a child to develope.

2. To me, this is a really big coice. either you let her die slowly from cancer or you let her take it and she becomes better but there can be risk later on.

3. I feel the author uses the word "poison" because , well it IS Poison everytime he gives his daughter this medicine and it slowly kills her. just like the cancer.

4. I feel she should do what she wants while she can. she may not make it because of the cancer or she may develop some problems later on in life because of the medicine.

5. If i wasnt going to make it past 30. i would want to spend as much time with my family as i could. all the way upto the end.

6. If a family member isnt going to make it for very long i can see a lot of people accepting the discomfort for their loved one. I know i would do anything for my loved ones.

7. suffering isnt a necessary thing in life. but it isnt not needed. some people need a little bit of suffering so that they know what it is like. and suffering can change you quite a bit. for good or for worse. one can only hope it is for good.

8. He describes parts that hurt him in a way that everyone can understand. and we all imagine if that was our child, could we all make the same choices. would we hate ourselves. or would we just not do anything. its a very sad thing to think about.

Hacking My Education

I will be following my passion most likely, if there is a way to relate the subject to animals then i most likely will. animals are still a deep passion of mine so being able to work on animals sounds pretty fun to me.
