Request For Response. ( Yeah. My 50th Post! )

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/13/opinion/sunday/saving-young-people-from-themselves.html?smid=pl-share&_r=0This is the link to an article called  "Saving Young people from themselves"

Through  this article it talks about retirement for young people. It says that we as young people will be worse off when we retire.  He states that if we do the same type of retirment plan as australia ( the superannuation plan ) that we would be better off as americans. meaning that it wouldnt just benefit the younger people but benefit americans over all. with the superannuation plan it would just take the retirment money right out of our annual pay along with taxes, which would profide 25 trillion dollars through investment assets. In my opinion that sounds like a really good idea for americans although we still have the national debt that we as the young millenials have to figure a way out to extinguish. I feel that this is a big problem and we as young people may not be able to live as well off senior citizens. to me the debt is a really big problem.

This article kind of confused me. I am hopefully gonna be able to understand more of this financial conversation in class tomorow. I will be doing a follow up to this post about what i finally got to understand about the crisis this poses.

S'WONDERFUL

I have been thinking about how wonderful it would be to be able to speak another language. Me personally can't. I haven't taken any foreign language at all during highschool. Do i regret it? yeah. But it isnt necesarily over. I will be going to college soon. so i plan to take a foreign language class. Hopefully I will be able to pick from a big selection. I have always thought french or spanish have been some good choices. But i dont know at the current moment. I hope that i am a person that it will come easy to.

LOOK AT MY BRAIN

Trough my masterpiece project i believe that i have been showing my creative side. To become a veterinarian or go into a medical field of any kind. you have to have a certain level of creativity. For you to have to find out what could be wrong with your patient you have to think outside the box. go through books and websites and try to figure out why something is happening when i try this. It is all a creative process that i hopefully will have when i become a veterinarian.

The above paragraph would also go into critical thinking. making choices that can either help a life or end it. When ever you are talking about someones health, you are basically making a gamble. One can only hope that it is for the greater good.

I have been talking to some veterinarians about collaborating, so that i can become an even better veterinarian when i grow up. I believe that it is all going really well.

These are a few things that i have figured out while doing this masterpiece project.

THE CROSSROADS BETWEEN SHOULD AND MUST

This essay describes how an artist chooses her path. The path of SHOULD and the path of MUST. While reading this i actually got to thinking. Am i on the right path? Am i on the MUST path? I would like to think so. But i believe that there might be a few things that i havent done quite yet. Hopefully through this essay i will be able to complete everything i should for MUST.

I believe i should focus more on these SHOULD's and MUST's. I believe that if i can narrow down my goals even more than i have. Put twice the effort into everything i do. Then i will make this expierence for my career goals that will help me drastically and hopefully it will lead to a life that i am happy with. A life where i have become a great veterinarian that i am proud of and that some younger aspiring veterinarians will look upto just like i am. And i hope that they will try to reach out to me so that i can help them. I don't feel the choice to want to help younger ones is a SHOULD choice. I think it is more of a MUST. It would make them happy and i woud be happy that i could help someone that wants to aspire to higher goals.

Through all these path choices are there any that i shouldn't take? I kind of question this but i believe that you must make the choices on your own. For the road of SHOULD and MUST is going to be a hard road for everyone but if you can make the right choices. Doing all the MUST's that you can. I believe that you will be able to accomplish every goal you have set before yourself.

This is the article : The Crossroads of Should and Must

I hope this article can help you like it has helped me.

Preview of Coming Attractions

Through collaboration in the class i came up with the idea to volunteer at an animal clinic and hopefully be able to observe the veterinarians working. i will be taking notes, pictures, and hopefully some video. I believe that if i can do this that i will be that  much closer to understanding what a veterinarian is like as a job.

Literature Analysis #3

The Tent by: Gary paulsen

This book is about a father being very sick of being poor. He cant stand just scraping by day to day. One day he comes up with the idea to start to preach. He figures that he will get money for preaching religous things at people and it will make him rich in the process. Throughout the book steve ( his son) starts to notice that it is wrong  to preach the word about god when you have never been to church, let a lone never reading the bible. This is what the story is about.

The theme of this bok in my opinion would be, "you should be happy with what you got and who you have". and you probably shouldnt start any fake church's. Steven is pretty skeptical about the whole church thing. In the begining of the book he even says to his father "I don't think it's that bad." Steven doesnt really care about money, just being together with his dad.

The authors tone is pretty sympathetic about the situation of being poor. "And it had stayed bad until this evening, when he listened to his father go futher down that he'd ever heard." "Then the factory had closed and gone to another country-- Steven thought mexico-- and even his father, who had been a foreman of a whole shift, was terminated" " We live in a ten-year-old rented trailer in a trailer park,". yeah throughout the story it is pretty sympathetic.

"I'm sick of being poor" This is an example of indirect characterization. "no not illegal at all. We're going to help people." this is another example of indirect characterization. Steven is a 14 year old boy. this is an example of direct characterization. Him going along with his fathers plans is another example of direct characterization.

There arent any changes in his tone when he talks about the characters. they basically will stay the same. I didnt notice anything different through out the book.

The protagonist is a pretty round character. He realises that all the things him and his dad are doing are bad. He was just happy with him and his dad just living in there trailer at the trailer park. he didnt mind not having a lot but he was happy to have his father. (his mother had left because she was tired of living that way)

I feel like i have come out meeting a person only because i know a few people in that kind of situation so its easy to understand his feelings and his dads feelings. The situation being that they are poor and need money. "Steven shrugged. " I don't think it's that bad"" Steven doesn't care that they are poor. he just wants to be with his dad.

THIS IS ONLY A TEST

for my test i decided it to be on how i can become a veterinarian. I found out that you have to have your animal science degree from college, intern for about 2 years, and then you have to take a test from an national orginazation. if you pass these then you can become a veterinarian.

IS THERE AN EXPERT IN THE HOUSE

Hopefully if an expert does visit my blog that they will be able to give me some helpful advice about what i should be doing to be on the right track to becoming a veterinarian. They would hopefully give me some way of contacting them so that i can get full feedback on everything i have done and any advice for good topics to write about. So if there is an expert out there. please give me some feedback.

Benchmark Project

Benchmark Project

I have decided that for the masterpiece project that i would do it on what i am most passionate for at the current moment. At the current moment i am most passionate about becoming a veterinarian as my professional career. To me this has been a passion of mine for quite a few years. I first wanted to become a veterinarian when i was just a kid. It sounded really cool to be a doctor for animals. I didn't really like the idea of being a doctor for people. So i went with animals because i prefered animals a little more than people. So i really liked the idea of using this for my masterpiece project.

I have been using all the information gathering skills that we have learned and it has made my work a little easier. also some of the office skills that we have learned like writing and creating public networks have become pretty useful too. I hope that any other skills we may learn down the road will be very useful. I want to be the best at my career that i can and i believe that through this class i will be able to achieve it in a satisfactory manner.

For me not to feel like i have regret about the school year, i think that i am gonna need to put my name out there more and i am gonna need to start communicating with more experts in my field of study. If i can do this, i believe that i will open up more doors than i already have available to me. If i can do this, it will make my job a lot easier.

I think that through all the skills we have learned through the course of this class and the determination to succeed in our certain passions we will show the audience that we have the critical thinking skills to excel in our certain fields of study.

I can further my education into the field of study that i have chosen, which is study of veterinary science. I believe that if i can keep in contact with professionals and keep a closed mindset i can accomplish this goal and move it past what-if.

For some of the experts that i would like in my network would be the veterinarians that go to moorpark college as professors. If i can keep in touch with them i believe i will be making a big step forward. If i am lucky i might get some help from them. This can improve chances for me to become a veterinarian by an immeasurable amount.

LITERATURE ANALYSIS #2

FICTION ANALYSIS
This is a book about a man called Equality 7-2521. This man is in a post appocolyptic time where people are living in colonies and each person are not a single individual. they have to address themselves as we because they find individuality a sin. you can be punished for being yourself and for being different. Equality is different. because of this. he is given a job that doesnt require thinking. he is assigned to be a streetsweeper. he actually wants to become a scholor for his community. he is actually really smart compared to others but because being different is bad, he has to be punished. like having to be a street sweeper. and the story goes on like this.

It is very saddening. you feel kind of sad that the world would turn out like this. also it is very cult like. making everyone do what you want all because of a religion.

"there is evil in your bones, Equality 7-2521, for your body has grown beyond the bodies of your brothers." The tone is kind of depressing that he gets treated like that. " all men are good and wise. it is only we, Equality 7-2521, we alone who were born with a curse. for we are not like our brothers." He doesnt quite belong with his community and gets treated differently. "we are one in all and all in one. there are no men but only the great WE, One, indivisable and forever." it has a very cult like feel to it.

CHARACTERIZATION
He describes the protagonist as being six feet tall. this is direct characterization. union 5-3992 as being half brained. this is an example of direct characterization. The golden one is the name of a character. she was given this name by equality. because she has golden hair. this is a form of indirect characterzation.

She doesnt really focus to much on characters. its more of what they do or did then what they say. this book kind of has a poetic feel to it also. because all the characters speak in a manner of we instead of i. so it kind of makes me feel like i am reading shakespeare.

the character is dynamic. the whole story is about his actions. it is kind of like an autobiography. it is a book in the style of a journel. so it describes everything about him.

I came out of this book feeling like i have met someone. It kind of makes me sad to be done with this book. I would have liked for there to have been more to the story.

MASTERPIECE ESSAY #1

To me, there are numerous reasons i want to become a veterinarian. From my love of animals, to me feeling it is the right thing to do.  animals are very precious to me and will always be precious to me. I hope that through my passion, i can make it a reality.

since i was at a young age i have always been close to animals. I moved around a lot so i felt more at ease with animals than with kids my own age. animals were kind of my outlet in tough times. if i ever felt in the dumps, i would just go play with our dog or cat. depending on what animals i had at the time. I personally have had a few animals. each one i cared for a lot. and i think that this was a major factor for me becoming a veterinarian.

When i grew up, i would watch quite a bit of animal planet and it would usually play the shows like animals cops and stuff like that. i would see these animals all mistreated and abused and i would just think how could someone do something like that. to me it didnt make sense. I wanted to do something about it so i decided that i would help those poor animals and become a veterinarian. so that i can help them recover and eventually become like they once were. this was one of the really big reasons why i want to become a veterianarian.

I also grew up admiring doctors and all that. saving lives sounded really cool when i was little. kind of sounded like a hero. So i decided that it would be cool to be a doctor for the animals. so when i told my mom she had told me that an animal doctor is a veterinarian and since that day i had aspired to be a veterinarian. To me, it felt like it was fate for me to become a veterinarian.

Those are just some of the reason that i want to become a veterinarian. It all started from way back when i was a kid and it never really went away, the dream that is. Being a kid i didnt know that i would eventually be able to pursue this dream. Just because you feel like you will be a kid for ever, and then one day you jsut have to grow up and you will have to pick something you are passionate about and just pursue it.

WELCOME TO THE INTERDISCIPLINARITY

  • I believe that something i will have to discipline will be always studying and researching to learn new medical discoveries in my field of study. medical anything will constantly be changing so i will have to be caught up on all that.
  •  I will also have to discipline social skills and not letting people get under my skin. so i will probably have to work on holding my tongue.
  • and something i will have to work on will probably be being able to punture a living thing and not feel squimish about it. i cant hook a worm let alone use a needle on a living thing. hopefully i will be able to do that.
  • I am also gonna have to work on working late nights cause i may have to go back to work if there is an emergency.
  • also working without much sleep. i will have to be alert the whole time, even when i didnt get too much sleep.

LAUNCH

I want nothing more than to become a veterinarian. I have always been passionate about animals and i would like to help them anyways that i can. I also find it interesting to go into that type of medical field. I will be extremely happy if this pursuit becomes reality and i am going to do my best to accomplish that goal.

I can use all the resource finding skill that i have learned over the fall semester of highschool. and all the orginizational skill that i learned. like the blog that everyone has done. we have to be able to organize our thoughts which can help us later on. also bringing technology into our studies has helped us use computers for something other than social media. instead using it as an information highway to help us further our pursuit in our future career.

I believe that if i try to do my best and participate as much as possible then i will not have any regrets about all the work we do in the class this semester. I can probably start by doing all of the work that is assigned to us this semester and just keep it up in general.

I believe just putting out all my thoughts and feelings will be enough to impress people and it willl also help them to understand how i think. It would be really great if people truly liked everything that i wrote and got an understanding of what i feel. and hopefully will help them in their personal lives.

If i can take the steps one at a time and try my hardest i believe i will be able to push past a what if and make it a reality. When this happens i hopefully will have accomplished my goal of being a veterinarian and will go off into my career.

hopefully my peers will be my friends and people that support me. and the public will hopefully be people that support my ideas about my future college goals. and my experts would hopefully be some veterniarians that have already accomplished their dream and will be able to carry on some knowledge so that i can know what to expect.

Literature Analysis #1

The book i have read is " I Hunt Killers ". It is about a teenager whose father was a serial murderer who would take him to work a few times. If you know what i mean. Because of his dad he feels like he doesnt belong anywhere. He has one friend. howie. they had been friends for a long time. even before the serial killer stuff. Howie still accepts jazz for who he is though. Him and howie both find out about a murder that had happened in there town. He wants to help because of his exstensive knowledge on serial murderers. That is what this book is mainly about.

The theme of this book would be rather dark. It also talks about life as a teenager. How difficult it is and all that.  It has a pretty realistic feeling to it. It also has some knowledge about the subject of serial killers.

"jazz closed his eyes, trying to chase away his fathers voice, but it was not good." The author brings out his fathers voice quite a bit to bring some detail to the character."You'll be the greatest ever, jasper. they'll never cath you" You'll be the new boogeyman parents use to scare their kids into behaving.

Plot: "by the time Jazz go to the field outside town, yellow police tape was everywhere. strung from stake to stake in a sort of drunken, off-kilter hexagon". PG3
Setting: "the town of lobo's Nod was too small..."PG3
Protagonist" Jasper "jazz" Dent wasnt about to let the cops see him." PG4
Conflict: " by the time jazz go to the field outside town, yellow police tape was everywhere. strung from stake to stake in a sort of drunken, off-kelter hexagon". PG3
Mood:" It," Jazz reminded him again, staring down. He knew he was suppoosed to feel something hiere. PG 32

"Jazz was amused to see a guy with a metal detector just outside the crime-scene." " He hated most things about Dear Old Dad, but what he hated most was that dear old dad was pretty much always right."

A little bit changes. when it talks about his life with his dad. the tone will change and you kind of just feel sympathetic for him. It just kind of happens. Thats what i feel whenever it talks about his father and when he talks about his friends or anything. you kind of get a relating feeling. Kind of like you feel the same.

He is a dynamic character. He changes slowly over time. By the end of the book his personality has changed quite a bit.I dont want to ruin the ending so i dont want to go that much further into this subject.

i feel like i met a person because because he had a lot of emotion in the book because he hated his father and didnt want to turn out like him. " you're just like your daddy. now that hurt more than any beating".

Reflections on 01/28/14

We talked aboutmaking our future plans and how we will finish the year. The easiest part of this assignment would be what i wanted to do as a career. I want to become a veterinarian. And the hardest question was what steps can i take to move beyond 'what if' and bring my idea/s into reality? That one was kind of hard for me because it was kind of hard for me to think of how i would go about doing this. But hopefully when i speak to dr. preston and we start making plans on the subject. it will be clear to me and i can do my best.

Hafta/Wanna

During highschool you kind of have more margin for error where as after high school, not so much. after high school you will hopefully be doing something with your life and when it comes down to something improtant to you, i would hope that you wouldnt mess around. i would hope that you are focussing on doing something good for your future. like going into a career or college so that you can go into a really good career. In highschool you feel like you can slack a bit but that isnt the case for college and all that. They are kind of similar. though. you will be forming friendships and all that. and hopefully carying on your education.

There is quite a bit of difference between the two though. I would say more difference than similarities. A major difference would be change of scenery. depending where you go and where you live. a major similarity would be that friends will still be your friends as long as you keep in touch.

I think depending on the person they will either stay the same as they are during highschool as out of highschool but they can also change but it wouldn't necesarily be a bad thing. Like if they become more responsible when they get out of highschool. Thats a pretty good positive change.

Me personally i would try to change after highschool but for the better. like changing work habits and study habits and hopefully become very hapy in a new and exciting life of college. To me it sounds really great and fun and will be a nice expirence but to others it might not. I want to go out and try lifes challenges by myself for a while and see how it is and if i can make it.

I, SENIOR PROJECT/FIRST DRAFT

I am very passionate about animals and would like to relate my class work to animals any way that i can.

Also i can use some of the old skills we learned in the fall, like maybe using a collabrative working group to work on my animal blog some more, or research skills to find interesting things in the animal science field.

I will just have to try my hardest at doing everything i can and try not to have any regrets.I will also need to think up new ways to include animal science into my work.

VISUAL STORYTELLING

Some of the techniques that they use in movies to show visual story telling is the music, just showing and not having any dialog, and creating a good mood. For instance the movie that we have been watching in class uses the showing and not telling technique in the first few seconds of the movie. he uses a few accourtments for his wheelchair and as he gets dressed. they use music after the american team loses to show a sense of sadness from the players. The movie creates a good mood by showing all of the players in there homes and how they act. they just live a normal life. living day by day just like everyone else. Most of the players faced contretemps and thats why they were place in the wheelchair. when they were trying out for the team only the best were culled out for the team.

PROFILE IN COURAGE

In the "profile", I saw a lot of courage. The men that had a horrible accident and came back to do stuff on there own. That takes a lot of courage. and they enjoy is the bettter part. I liked that they explained the feelings that you get when you get home. That you just feel horrible about what you used to be able to do. All that photos of you doing activities and all that. must be hard for them. I do like that they are able to do all of the stuff without the use of there legs or even there forarms for the matter. It take a lot of courage to bounce back from some of the stuff that they went through and i admire them for that.

The Choice

A friend of mine told me of a choice that he had to make. He had to make the choice of will he stay where he is at or will he go move with his grandmother.

His grandmother had just left his grandfather and moved out of state to idaho. She was all alone up there. She had asked him to move out there. He said that he was considering it.

He had moved a lot as a child. He had been alone for a long time so he knew how his grandmother felt. So he decided to go move in with her in Idaho. He knew if he moved out there that he would be alone again but he didnt mind too much because he was pretty lonely where he was at the time and he kind of wanted to see snow so it was allright.

When he did move out there he was lonely, Like he had predicted. He usually went home and stayed there for about 6 hours by himself all alone till his grandmother had gotten home. It wasnt so bad he said. He didnt really regret moving out there far a little while.

THE CHOICE (Questions)

The source: The choice

1. The choice that the article i read reffered too was giving their daughter a medicine that can stop cancer cells from progressing but this also may affect healthy cells that help her grow. she is 5 years old so it is a kind of critical time for a child to develope.

2. To me, this is a really big coice. either you let her die slowly from cancer or you let her take it and she becomes better but there can be risk later on.

3. I feel the author uses the word "poison" because , well it IS Poison everytime he gives his daughter this medicine and it slowly kills her. just like the cancer.

4. I feel she should do what she wants while she can. she may not make it because of the cancer or she may develop some problems later on in life because of the medicine.

5. If i wasnt going to make it past 30. i would want to spend as much time with my family as i could. all the way upto the end.

6. If a family member isnt going to make it for very long i can see a lot of people accepting the discomfort for their loved one. I know i would do anything for my loved ones.

7. suffering isnt a necessary thing in life. but it isnt not needed. some people need a little bit of suffering so that they know what it is like. and suffering can change you quite a bit. for good or for worse. one can only hope it is for good.

8. He describes parts that hurt him in a way that everyone can understand. and we all imagine if that was our child, could we all make the same choices. would we hate ourselves. or would we just not do anything. its a very sad thing to think about.
